The Elyria Schools is seeking a Director of Human Resources due to an upcoming retirement of the incumbent. This position requires a Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business or Organizational Development and eight to ten years implementing strategic Human Resources plans and leading workforce planning and process management systems in either a business or public school setting.
The Elyria Schools is located in Elyria, Ohio and serves over 6300 students. The district is currently comprised of eight elementary, three middle schools and one high school with total staff of over 750 employees. The district is currently undergoing a five year rebuilding program that will replace all elementary and middle school facilities.
The functions of this role shall include but are not limited to; leading district workforce planning, selection and staffing processes, managing and resolving complex employee relations issues, providing leadership in the planning, preparation and execution of contract negotiations with two labor contracts, direct, coordinate and supervise a staff of four professionals, provide direction with evaluation and compensation systems, direct employee benefit plans, initiate all compliance and regulatory training, and ensure compliance with all federal and state employment laws and regulations, including Ohio School Law. This position reports to the Superintendent/CEO for the Elyria City Schools.
Successful candidates must possess excellent consulting and business/school literacy skills, strong verbal, written, interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict management skills.
